Nestled in his Koolau Ranch property on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the billionaire, 39, and his wife Priscilla Chan on the island back in 2021 - adding to the couple's 1,300 acre $100million luxury estate.

He is joined in the list of the uber-wealthy hoping to escape the apocalypse by billionaire investor and PayPal founder Peter Thiel. 

Thiel turned to New Zealand as the site for his doomsday bunker, with his PayPal co-founder, Reid Hoffman, once telling The New Yorker that among the world's wealthiest New Zealand is quietly understood to be the place to hunker down in the event of calamity.

'Saying you're ''buying a house in New Zealand'' is kind of a ''wink, wink, say no more'',' Hoffman said.

Although Thiel's plans for a sprawling underground complex were rejected last year, he clearly retains hopes as he holds a New Zealand residency.
