Kit Harington opens up on the effects had on his mental health and how the period after Jon Snow's death was the darkest moment of his career.
Speaking to the Hidden 20% Podcast, Harington discussed how the media and fan spectacle surrounding the elevation of Jon Snow's character and story-line during seasons 5 and 6 of the show negatively impacted his mental health. Harington stated that the combination of Jon's death being a major cliffhanger and being at the peak of its fame at the time created a terrifying shift of focus on him and the character he portrayed.

"I didn't like the focus of the whole show coming onto Jon. When you become the cliffhanger of a TV show and a TV show probably at the height of its power, the focus on you is f—–g terrifying."
Harington further opened up about his mental health struggles following the infamous end of the show in 2019, which he had previously discussed in 2021, after the actor had decided to check into a rehab facility, due to his struggles with alcoholism, ADHD, and anxiety.
The actor previously described having considered suicide at the height of his struggles and added the hope that by sharing his story he might be able to "help someone, somewhere." He added, "I realized that my life was hinging on this," to the Hidden 20% Podcast about his mental struggles. "Luckily, it was the right place at the right time. I managed to forge a new life from there."
