Matt LeBlanc has shared a new tribute post for his late co-star Matthew Perry.
In October, Perry suddenly passed away at the age of 54, leaving family, friends, and fans everywhere in a state of shock. While a previous statement was released, a new tribute was shared by LeBlanc on his Instagram account on Tuesday. LeBlanc said his farewells to his longtime real-life friend, speaking about the "honor" that it was to work with him and ending with a joke about Perry owing him some money. The post, which also included several images of LeBlanc and Perry, can be seen below.
"Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye," the post stated.
The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me."
The previous statement released jointly by the cast was signed by LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and . Noting how the cast members would have more to say at some point soon, the statement said, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew.
We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
Perry, whose specific cause of death remains unclear, was best known for playing Chandler Bing, one of the show's most popular characters on . The series ran for ten seasons between 1994 and 2004, following a group of friends navigating life in Manhattan during their 20s and early 30s.
The series remains one of the most popular sitcoms to have ever aired, regularly getting rewatched by fans with its availability on streaming.
