A woman has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the rigorous audition process for the 2024 season of Married at First Sight Australia.

Social media star @juliasingsmyths2, who almost made her television debut as one of the brides, spoke about her wild experience applying for the hit Channel Nine show in a video.

According to Julia, the application she filled out one February night was extensive, peppered with a plethora of questions about STIs and criminal background checks.

Julia said she thought her application would be just another in a sea of hopefuls.

According to Julia, the application she filled out one February night was extensive, peppered with a plethora of questions about STIs and criminal background checks

To her surprise, she received a callback the very next morning from a MAFS producer and an interview was promptly scheduled in the same week.

This marked the beginning of a lengthy selection process, stretching from February to September, leading up to the filming of the weddings. 

Julia said the intense interview process involved numerous sessions with different producers, all recorded, except for one with a publicist.

Applicants were required to undergo comprehensive police checks, citizenship tests and a full medical exam to ensure they were both mentally and physically fit for the show.

'One thing that shocked me, but probably shouldn't have shocked me, was that I was required to do every single STI check, including blood,' she explained, adding the only thing she learned from these tests was her low iron levels.

'With this medical exam, you actually had to do a bunch of mobility tests as well, the funniest one was you had to go and do what's called a duck walk, where you crouch down and kind of like walk.'

'I think the interviews were some of the most interesting part of the process, lots of different people for all of the interviews, and if you're wondering if, on reality TV, where producers kind of try to put words in your mouth and try and make you say things on camera - that started in the interview process,' Julia explained.

Her followers were shocked by the rigorous application process, with many saying she 'dodged a bullet'. 

Married At First Sight will return to screens next Monday on Channel Nine.
