The Chiefs may have prevailed, but Skip Bayless is convinced it was Bills star Josh Allen who won the battle of the quarterbacks at Highmark Stadium.

City quarterback Patrick Mahomes extended his winning run over Allen in the NFL postseason to 3-0 on Sunday night, after inspiring the champions to a 27-24 victory on his first ever postseason road trip to Buffalo.

It was another epic encounter between the two, before Tyler Bass' late field-goal miss cost the Bills dearly as the visitors held on to their three-point advantage. 

Despite their Divisional Round exit, Allen still produced an incredible individual display on the night, throwing for 186 yards and a touchdown while also picking up 72 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Mahomes, meanwhile, had 215 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Bayless pointed to Buffalo's defensive woes as a reason why Allen's work was more impressive

Yet due to the number of injuries which have decimated the Bills' defense this season - with only two players starting all 17 of their previous games - Bayless believes Allen's success on the night was the more impressive.

'I give it up to Mahomes, he was very good. [But] I thought Josh Allen outplayed Mahomes last night, especially given degree of difficulty,' he said on FS1's Undisputed.

'Because the Bills defense was flat-out decimated. They were even losing players during the game. We had backups to backups to backups, we had guys off their couch playing defense for the Bills last night - and don't get me started on Matt Milano going early this year, Tre'Davious White going early this year.

'It was a mismatch for me of Mahomes vs what was left of the Bills defense. And they got little to no pressure on Mahomes, so he's nonchalantly back there picking them to pieces. 

'When I looked up late in the first half and he'd hit Kelce for that 22-yarder for a touchdown... how do you not cover ? How do you leave him gone wide open, like nobody's around him? Obviously he's the No 1 option left for , so how do you do that?'

Bayless then went on to back up his argument with some fascinating stats, which highlighted the deficiencies of the Bills defense on the night.

'Given the pressure on Josh Allen and given the stats I'm looking at, Josh Allen actually dominated the game with his arms and his legs, even though he was dinking and dunking, but I've never heard of such a statistical anomaly as what happened last night,' he continued.

'The Bills ran 78 plays, only 47 for Patrick Mahomes. Time of possession was 37 minutes for the home team to only 23 minutes for Patrick Mahomes. 

'Conversions on third and fourth down, would you believe Buffalo went nine of 17? That will win a whole lot of football games, and yet Patrick was only asked to go five times on third down and guess what, he converted one out of five.

One out of five vs nine out of 17. 

'So then you step back from this and say, "what happened?"'
