They soon discovered that the distressed visitor was a cat in need of assistance.
Neighbors, recognizing the urgency of the situation, pursued the cat for days, attempting to bring her to safety. Despite efforts by local rescuers Marcia Sandford Fishkind and Eileen DiNicola, the cat remained elusive. Meanwhile, concerned animal lovers started tagging the renowned local animal rescue expert, John Debacker, on Facebook, urging him to intervene.
Finally, on Christmas Day, Debacker abandoned his holiday plans and rushed to the scene to offer his assistance.

Rescuers named the cat Merry and arranged transportation to Brick City Kitties Rescue, Inc., where experienced caregivers provided the necessary medical attention.
Merry was soon deemed friendly and ready for adoption. Thanks to the collaboration of numerous animal lovers, Merry’s future now looks promising.
