Shocking footage has captured the moment a man was Tasered twice by police after he allegedly called triple zero and said he had shot two people dead.

 Police had been called to Gannon Street, in Tempe in 's inner west on Saturday just before 9am, by a 52-year-old man who claimed he had fired gunshots.

Police officers including special operations and the dog squad arrived at the scene, locking down a section of the street, while Pol Air monitored the situation from above. 

The 52-year-old, who was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans, was filmed marching towards two female police officers while he hurled abuse at a nearby cameraman.

'Put the f**king camera down d**khead!' he shouted.

The officers shouted at the man to get on the ground but he refused and called out 'go f**k yourself', and continued storming towards them.

A female officer then fired her Taser at the man's torso twice, sending him collapsing onto the ground.

The officers restrained the man as two male officers from the dog squad and special operations rushed over and ordered the camera crew who were filming to leave.

One of the male officers repeatedly told the man to 'stop mucking around' as he continued to shout abuse.

The 52-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics and was taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the man was Tasered because he did not obey the officer's commands. 

'The man allegedly ignored a police direction and a Taser was deployed to affect his arrest,' the spokesperson said. 

'He was checked at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital for assessment.'

A spokeswoman from the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District told Daily Mail the man is currently in hospital in a stable condition. 

Police have since established no gunshots were fired and nobody was injured.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.  

The man was eventually handcuffed by police before he was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in a stable condition
