Ending was a hard decision for the cast to digest, and that included Jim Parsons. After the actor realized he wouldn't be going past 12 seasons, Other cast members worried about their own futures, as Kaley Cuoco was completely heartbroken by the announcement and in fact, the following day during their shoot. The decision to end the show was met differently by every cast member. However, there was a member of the cast that knew a little more behind the scenes. We'll reveal which actor that is, and how he felt about Jim Parsons' decision to end the show. This actor defended his co-star, and thought about also leaving the show following its 12th season.
During the shoot of , several members of the cast grew close relationships. The most well-documented, was between Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, who dated without anyone knowing.
However, there was another close friendship, and that was between Jim Parsons and Simon Helberg, who shared dressing rooms next to one another.
In addition, when asked who Parsons was going to miss the most from the show,
"I’ll particularly miss Simon Helberg; we spend a lot of time together, we go back and forth to our dressing rooms, we’ve talked for almost 12 years now.""Six months down the road after we finished, I will be like, I haven’t talked to Simon in a deep way in a long time. And that will be hard."
It seems like the two also shared secrets, as it was said that Simon Helberg was the only cast member that knew about Jim Parsons' potential departure.
There were some major reveals in the book, . Among them, included a major bombshell regarding Jim Parsons' decision to leave the show.
It was said that Simon Helberg knew about the potential decision of Parsons leaving the show, and in fact, he also contemplated leaving the series himself after season 12.
Helberg was lucky enough to get a warning, but the rest of the cast got caught blindsided. This included Johnny Galecki,
"I was shocked. We were just blindsided that day. And not necessarily shocked by Jim's decision, but that he hadn't had that conversation with his castmates first to prepare us. So yes, it could have been handled better. We're a family; have a conversation."
Galecki continues, "And I don't even disagree with how Jim felt, because in many ways, I felt the same way.
I just disagreed with how it was managed."
Parsons departure caused a lot of controversy, especially behind the scenes as Kaley Cuoco almost skipped out on tapings the following day. Nonetheless, Simon Helberg had Parsons' back, and wasn't pleased with the backlash.
According to Helberg, Parsons was simply honoring his contract, which at that point, did not extend passed season 12. Helberg didn't agree that Parsons ended the show, he was simply stepping down from his role and didn't ask for the series to end altogether.
"In terms of the actual, I guess what you could call the cancelation of the show, that occurred in [that] meeting, where we were informed by Chuck that the show was done. That's what I found to be the most upsetting," Helberg said.
"Jim didn't cancel our show. Jim just finished the run of our show as we all did, contractually, and no one ever asked us to continue doing the show. That is not an exaggeration."
After 12 seasons, the show came to an end with an emotional finale. Thankfully, during the final season, the cast was able to bring things together, and put out an amicable final season.
