Before brings her  to a close this spring, she caught up with ABC’s Tamron Hall for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into her glamorous show at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Along the way, the pair also sat down for a deep conversation surrounding Lambert’s family, her musical journey, and the people who helped her grow along the way.

Each night on stage, the country superstar dons rhinestone-covered ensembles while showcasing her most authentic self, something she revealed her mom, Beverly June Lambert, has encouraged her to do since day one.

“She said, know who you are and stick with it and don’t change for anybody.

And that advice has carried me through so many…it’s been very important to really just go with my gut and always do whatever is true to me. Even if it’s not the most popular decision or it makes the journey longer. It’s the long way around. You have to do it. You just have to be authentically yourself and stick to your guns. And it has worked well for me,” she told Hall.

Lambert also shared that her mom has officially been cancer-free for one year. While celebrating this incredible news, the award-winning country star acknowledged how the diagnosis has given her “a lot of perspective” on life.

“It really reiterated to me just how much something like that, how many people it touches in bad and good ways. People come out of the woodwork to support you and you don’t understand the toughness of that, all the stress on the entire family until you’ve gone through it. And so, it was really eye-opening for our whole family.”

She continued to gush about their tight-knit relationship, saying that her mom has continued to be her “hype girl” and “number one fan” throughout her entire musical journey.

“We’re very, very close. I mean, I couldn’t do any of this without her. She’s my number-one fan, for obvious reasons. I think the first run she came to…we had eight shows. She came to nine. I think my mom was here when no one was here.”

While Beverly is a huge supporter, Lambert says her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, is also always by her side as a champion of her career. She says he shows his encouragement by sharing a dose of honest feedback where he sees fit.

“He gives me harsh reality and I love it. As I say, he likes to call me all my sh*t, which I love because everybody needs that in their life that’s like a truth-teller.

And he’s very New York about it, but I also know that they’re so proud and they were part of every step of the way, especially Brendan.”

When it came time to discuss the possibility of making the temporary move to Las Vegas three times a year to pursue her residency, Lambert admits she and her other half made the decision together.

“I was like, ‘Hey baby, you want to go to Vegas?’ He’s like, ‘hell yeah.’ It was pretty easy actually,” she said with a laugh.

To make Sin City truly feel like a second home, the couple opted to settle down in a home in the suburbs in order to experience normalcy outside the chaos of the Las Vegas strip.

Having this time off the road has been a completely new experience for Lambert, seeing as how she spent most of her adult life on a bus and constantly moving from place to place.

“It was just a shift and being away from home and our life is in Nashville, we split time in Texas, Nashville and New York…We’re in New York at ton ‘cause my husband’s from there and I go back to Texas a lot, but this was like, oh, we’re going way out west, so we’re going to make it a second home. So those were just all the thoughts I had and wondering how it was going to feel instead of rolling into these tiny towns I’ve loved for so long, these towns that I go see my fans that have been with me all this time,” she shared honestly while reflecting on this chapter of her career.

Designed exclusively for Bakkt Theater and promoted by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, Miranda Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency will come to a close with a final set of shows this March and April. As the end of this run nears, Hall prompted Lambert to discuss the freedom that comes with being 40 years old and having a new chapter on the horizon.

She shared, “I feel excited… I’m more open now to whatever’s supposed to come my way. A little more aware and a little less tunnel vision, because, luckily, I’ve worked hard enough to get to where I’ve reached a lot of my goals, so now I can be a little more free.

March 2024: 20, 22, 23, 27, 29, 30

April 2024: 3, 5, 6

“I was so confused and insecure. Because I thought I was beautiful. So many people told me I was beautiful. Who am I? I feel like a vase shattered across the ground, and left there in the alleyway. A chandelier that was cut from the ceiling, and then all the people left the house. I can’t imagine on this day, what it would feel like to recover. Am I allowed to be this sad? Am I allowed to lay on the ground in a heap and wail? I want to have hands again, and legs. I want to smile. I want to believe that I can. But again, I want to be sad for the rest of time. I want to wear my sadness in long strands. I want to lay on the ocean floor and weep stalactites. For a hundred years. A tree has fallen onto my chest. The sky is spinning, and it won’t slow down. I don’t want to feel any of this.” A excerpt of an untitled essay from NIGHTBIRDE The NIGHTBIRDE book “Poems for the dark” should be available for presale soon.
