Sunrise viewers have been left baffled over co-host  whereabouts after he failed to appear on the breakfast show this past week.

The show returned to regular programming last Monday, with co-host appearing on the desk alongside newsreader and sports reporter .

But Shirvo has been notably absent from Brekky Central, with  filling in for the former Olympic athlete.

Fans of the program took to social media to question Shirvo's return.

'Where was Shirvo?' one viewer asked, while another similarly penned, 'Have I missed something?? Where's Shervo!!'

 have since confirmed that Shrivo will be back on Sunrise Wednesday morning after enjoying his holidays as well as an assignment for the show.

Meanwhile, some fans have enjoyed seeing a fresh face in place of Shirvo, with many suggesting Matt Doran take his place for good.

'Great to see Matt Doran on the desk again,' someone said.

'Please keep Matt on during the week. Like a breath of fresh air,' added another.

Fans of the program took to social media to question Shirvo's return: 'Where was Shirvo?'

Details of Shirvington's appearance in the show have been kept secret, but 7News reports that the celebrity will be 'playing himself' on the hit soap.

Shirvington's appearance on the beloved soap adds to a growing list of Sunrise stars who have tried out their acting skills on the show.

In 2007 former Sunrise host David 'Kochie' Koch enjoyed a two-line cameo on the show, which showed the 67-year-old TV veteran

And in 2021 Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac appeared as a 'VIP guest' at a Summer Bay soiree.

Shirvington rose rose to fame in 1998 as a marathon sprinter at the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia, and later competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

In June, Athletics star turned TV host Shirvington was crowned David Koch's successor at Sunrise after a three-year plan to .
