season 2 set photo confirms the return of season 1 main villain — Elias Voit. Delayed by the dual Hollywood strikes of 2023, much like almost every film and TV show, the Paramount+ revival of the CBS hit series is already back in production. A release date for season 2 hasn't been announced yet, which means that marketing for the show hasn't started. Thankfully, set images offer some teases on what its sophomore year may look like.

starting production. Arguably, however, the image featuring Voit actor, Zach Gilford, and show veteran Joe Mantegna stands out.
FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit successfully returned to the small screen after wrapping up its CBS stint with a darker and grittier show on Paramount+. That required the introduction of a formidable Unsub that would keep the profilers on their toes throughout the whole 10-episode case. Luckily, was able to craft one with Voit aka Sicarius, who created a killing ring that operated at the height of the pandemic.
He was apprehended, but his story is clearly not finished.
At the end of season 1, . It remains to be seen who or what it is, but Voit believes that his knowledge of the matter will help his cause if he uses it right. Showrunner Erica Messer has already confirmed that Gold Star will be at the center of season 2's storytelling. Since Voit seems to be the only person who knows what it is really about, it makes sense that he is back in the revival. That said, it's uncertain how prominent he will be this time.
Perhaps, the BAU may even be forced to work with Voit to solve a bigger case — something that the profilers have done in the past to accomplish their task. Beyond that, however, his role in the police procedural may be done. Considering all of his crimes, it's either he's going to spend his whole life in jail, or he gets killed in the near future.
