A connection between and has been officially confirmed.
Taking to , Scott Westwood shared a video highlighting the apparent discovery of the connection. Westwood used clips from and to suggest that the house Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Monica (Courteney Cox) purchase as a couple is actually the same house where Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) and his family lived in . This can be seen by observing the houses across the street, which look the same in both the TV series and the film. In the comments, Art Director Daren Janes confirmed this to be the case and explained how this all came to be.
"This is hilarious," Janes said. "You caught me… I was the Art Director on & the house was a set. The actors walked in the front door, so we saw outside. We used the backing from a company called Pacific Studios which was made for because it looked the best through the door & windows. Great eye my friend!!!!"
as well, but it hasn't been until now when someone from has given official confirmation. This doesn't exactly mean that actually moved into the McCallister house as part of the two properties sharing the same universe. Notably, the
characters lived in New York while the McCallisters' home is in Chicago. Nevertheless, it's a fun find for fans of both.
and have also both been revisited in a way in recent years as a part of the streaming wars. In 2021, the cast of reunited for the Max special, , to reminisce about the hit sitcom. That same year, Disney+ released the sequel film , which was set in the same universe as the original movies. It also featured a special appearance from Devin Ratray reprising his role as Buzz McCallister. The reunion special is as close as will be getting to a revival, however.
"These six actors, the time, the place, everything was special,"
executive producer Kevin Bright told in 2021. "We don't want to look at the show as a brand that you just spin it off into another generation. If we were going to do it, we want to do something maybe with the six characters, but we don't want to do that... We're not interested in doing it. It was a perfect ending; don't touch it. "
