The LA socialite by hitting them with her car whilst impaired is desperate to reach out to their parents and has been writing them letters.

Rebecca Grossman has thought of 'nothing else' but trying to contact the parents of Jacob and Mark Iskander since the night they were killed, according to a website dedicated to her defense.

Jacob, 8, and Mark, 11, were crossing a road with their mother when Grossman ploughed into them at 81mph in her Mercedes SUV, prosecutors say. She was driving in a 45mph zone at the time.

'Since the accident, she remains broken and devastated,' her lawyers wrote on a website about her case.

'She has thought of nothing else but being a human being and reaching out to the parents of Mark and Jacob over the past three years.'

Grossman, 62, has been banned from contacting the family, but 'continues to write letters to the family in hopes that one day, she can send them', according to the statement.

Prosecutors say Grossman ploughed into the boys at 81mph in a 45mph zone causing this damage to her car

The plastic surgeon's wife is due to stand trial later this month. Her legal team are preparing to argue that Grossman was neither the first or last car to hit the children the night they died.

'Eyewitnesses that reported to the Sheriff's that multiple vehicles hit the children,' defense attorney Tony Buzbee said.

'The defense's reconstruction experts will show that Grossman's vehicle was not the first vehicle to hit the children and another eyewitness indicated that she was also not the last vehicle that made contact with the children.'

Buzbee also claimed his client, 'was not impaired, she was not racing, she was not going the speed that they claim and she never fled the scene'. He added that prosecutors had taken the 'easy' way out by ignoring alleged evidence as it 'did not fit their narrative'.

The Iskanders were hit and killed in September 2020. Initial reports suggested Grossman had been pursuing another vehicle, something her attorney denies.

'The fact that so much evidence was concealed, destroyed or simply went missing early on will clearly show that this case has never been about revealing the truth by the prosecution,' Buzbee said.

'That is shameful as it has only created more pain and suffering for the family of the children and all involved'.

Grossman's defense team will argue she was not the only car to hit the brothers the night they died

They argued that former Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles pitcher Scott Erickson had struck the children first.

Erickson's black Mercedes drove through the crosswalk where the brothers were struck while walking with their parents before Grossman's car did.

Buzzbee told a Los Angeles court that sheriff's deputies failed to check Erickson's black Mercedes.

Erickson was charged with a misdemeanor over the crash, which he settled in 2022.

Images from the scene show the front of Grossman's luxury car badly-damaged by an impact prosecutors say was caused by mowing down the youngsters.

Grossman's murder charges are unusual as there was no charge of driving under the influence.

Her on-site breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.076 percent - slightly below California's legal limit of 0.08 percent.

A blood sample taken three hours after the crash registered at the 0.08 percent mark.

Grossman claims the accident was caused by a poorly lit, poorly signaled crosswalk pictured above

Prosecutors will argue in court that Grossman was also on Valium and was impaired when she got behind the wheel.

Grossman - whose husband leads the prestigious Grossman Burn Center - will argue in her defense that a vehicle was in front of her, and that vehicle hit the boys, exonerating her and Erickson.

She has also claimed the collision was down to the fact the crosswalk was poorly lit and badly signaled.

“I was so confused and insecure. Because I thought I was beautiful. So many people told me I was beautiful. Who am I? I feel like a vase shattered across the ground, and left there in the alleyway. A chandelier that was cut from the ceiling, and then all the people left the house. I can’t imagine on this day, what it would feel like to recover. Am I allowed to be this sad? Am I allowed to lay on the ground in a heap and wail? I want to have hands again, and legs. I want to smile. I want to believe that I can. But again, I want to be sad for the rest of time. I want to wear my sadness in long strands. I want to lay on the ocean floor and weep stalactites. For a hundred years. A tree has fallen onto my chest. The sky is spinning, and it won’t slow down. I don’t want to feel any of this.” A excerpt of an untitled essay from NIGHTBIRDE The NIGHTBIRDE book “Poems for the dark” should be available for presale soon.
