Sami Gayle recalls deciding to pursue acting professionally when she was 14, when she played Erica in the film “Detachment.” “It was then that I discovered the power of acting – to generate empathy and effect change,” she told Glitter Magazine.

Gayle has been playing Nicky Reagan-Boyle on the CBS series “Blue Bloods” since the show’s debut in 2010.

She’s appeared in fewer episodes of the show in recent years (according to IMDb), but she considers Nicky’s independence to be a positive influence in her life.

“Growing up with her by my side helped me learn to speak my truth and advocate for myself in my personal and professional lives,” the actress says.

Gayle has worked with many well-known older actors on “Blue Bloods,” including Tom Selleck and Len Cariou. However, she wishes she had more scenes with Steve Schirripa on the cop drama — and here’s why.

Gayle Admires His Performance On The Sopranos And Other Television Projects.

Steve Schirripa first appeared on “Blue Bloods” as a regular cast member in Season 6. But the actor is perfectly cast as Detective Anthony Abetemarco, a divorced, good-natured NYPD investigator who frequently employs double negatives.

Despite his dislike for Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), Abetemarco gets along well with Erin (Bridget Moynahan) and the other Reagan family members.

Gayle told Glitter Magazine that Schirripa was the “Blue Bloods” actor she wished she had more scenes with. “I’m such a fan of his work, from ‘The Sopranos’ to ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager,’ and I think I’d learn a lot working with him,” Gayle said.

“The Sopranos” has a massive cult following among younger generations, according to The New York Times. It stands to reason that Gayle would admire his portrayal of the sweet, tragic Bobby Baccalieri. Despite appearing on other shows, Schirripa told Esquire, “not one single day has gone by where someone doesn’t go, ‘Hey Bobby!’ ‘Hey Bacala!’ ‘Hey, where’s Junior?’ Not one day.

“I was so confused and insecure. Because I thought I was beautiful. So many people told me I was beautiful. Who am I? I feel like a vase shattered across the ground, and left there in the alleyway. A chandelier that was cut from the ceiling, and then all the people left the house. I can’t imagine on this day, what it would feel like to recover. Am I allowed to be this sad? Am I allowed to lay on the ground in a heap and wail? I want to have hands again, and legs. I want to smile. I want to believe that I can. But again, I want to be sad for the rest of time. I want to wear my sadness in long strands. I want to lay on the ocean floor and weep stalactites. For a hundred years. A tree has fallen onto my chest. The sky is spinning, and it won’t slow down. I don’t want to feel any of this.” A excerpt of an untitled essay from NIGHTBIRDE The NIGHTBIRDE book “Poems for the dark” should be available for presale soon.
