is reportedly likely to remain head coach despite the team's brutal 1-5 finish to the regular season and its playoff implosion against the .

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday that 'all signs point to him staying with the Eagles.'

'Right now,' Schefter said at halftime of Saturday's Ravens-Texans game, 'Nick Sirianni has a job and it's trending that it'll stay that way.'

Sirianni joins NFC East rival Mike McCarthy in surviving the hot seat this week despite playoff embarrassments. McCarthy's Cowboys were eliminated from the postseason by the , 48-32, but the 60-year-old is not expected to be dismissed, Schefter reported earlier in the week.

But even if Sirianni does survive, there are likely changes coming for a defense that ranked 30th in points allowed and 26th in yardage.

Although there has been no official announcement, co-defensive coordinators Sean Desai and Matt Patricia are unlikely to return in Philadelphia.

And for that matter, a number of veterans are expected to retire or walk away in free agency, including center Jason Kelce, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, and defensive end Brandon Graham – three key members of Philadelphia's only Super Bowl-winning team, back in 2017-18.

Sirianni and owner Jeffrey Lurie were expected to talk on Friday.

Interestingly, at 34-17, Sirianni has the best winning percentage in Eagles history (.667) and is the only coach in team history to guide Philadelphia to three playoff berths in his first three seasons.

But Lurie has never hesitated to dismiss any coach, having previously fired Andy Reid in 2012 and the Super Bowl-winning Doug Pederson in 2020.

“I was so confused and insecure. Because I thought I was beautiful. So many people told me I was beautiful. Who am I? I feel like a vase shattered across the ground, and left there in the alleyway. A chandelier that was cut from the ceiling, and then all the people left the house. I can’t imagine on this day, what it would feel like to recover. Am I allowed to be this sad? Am I allowed to lay on the ground in a heap and wail? I want to have hands again, and legs. I want to smile. I want to believe that I can. But again, I want to be sad for the rest of time. I want to wear my sadness in long strands. I want to lay on the ocean floor and weep stalactites. For a hundred years. A tree has fallen onto my chest. The sky is spinning, and it won’t slow down. I don’t want to feel any of this.” A excerpt of an untitled essay from NIGHTBIRDE The NIGHTBIRDE book “Poems for the dark” should be available for presale soon.
