's best friend, Ron Weasley, came from a big family and had many siblings who had a major impact on Harry's life throughout the series. Ron's older brother Percy Weasley played a significant role early in the films, but his presence seemed to diminish as the movies progressed. In the books, however, Percy struggled to assert himself and stand out among the other Weasleys, a family who had gained a reputation for being overly large and poor.
When Ron and , Percy was in his fifth year and made a very big deal about being in the authoritative position of Prefect -- a coveted role of renown and responsibility that Percy believed gave him power.
One responsibility he held was escorting the first-year Gryffindor students to their dormitory, which gave him a unique role as the initial guide through Hogwarts for not just Harry, but viewers and readers as well. But what happened to Percy Weasley later on?

Percy Weasley was the third , after Bill and Charlie. However, he didn't get along with the rest of his family. While the rest of the Weasleys were mischievous, sociable, and humble, Percy was arrogant. From the very beginning, it's clear there's a gap between Percy and his siblings. When Harry visits the Burrow, Percy usually spends all of his time alone in his room. While all the Weasleys are very talented and are known for their outstanding academic roles, Percy is an overachiever who puts his job above anything else.
When Harry first met . Essentially, Percy's role was to watch over the Gryffindors and provide help and guidance, as well as enforce the rules.
Percy was kind if stern, assisting the younger Gryffindors and keeping them in line. Later, he unsurprisingly went on to earn the role of Head Boy in his final year at Hogwarts in . During his tenure as both a Prefect and Head Boy, his biggest obstacle was arguably his own family, as Fred and George were the school clowns, and Ron kept getting himself in trouble.
and troublemakers while students at Hogwarts, and they gave Percy a hard time both at home and school. Percy was also the odd man out in his family, as he was more standoffish and arguably snootier than his parents and siblings. It was this disconnect from the rest of his family, alongside his ambitious nature, that led to a blowout argument that ostracized from the Weasleys later in the series.
Essentially, Percy all but disappears from after graduating from Hogwarts, making cameo-style appearances in the later films. This, unfortunately, relegates his character arc to visual queues and unspoken context rather than receiving a well-rounded and complete arc as he has in the novels. In the novels, Percy falls victim to his ambition, but he learns to value his family and the truth above power by the end of the series. It's an important journey that shows while people can make mistakes, there is hope for them to do better in the future.

Percy Weasley's role in the series, especially the film adaptations, diminished as the series progressed, but he was still an important character.
