Today show host has revealed how he enjoyed a wild night out with his Channel Nine colleagues on Friday.

The 49-year-old, who is currently in covering the , made the candid confession at an event while being interviewed by his former Today co-host .

Ally asked Karl about his presenting role on the show and what 'gets him out of bed every morning'.

'The team makes it easier to come to work,' he said before revealing: 'We went out to dinner last time and Sarah [Abo] got poleaxed.'

'That kind of comradery [is great]... Everyone is really good at what they do.'

His co-host Sarah jokingly responded: 'I was just following your lead.'

Ally then praised the pair on their friendship, adding: 'As a team you do [spend time together] and it says it all and it comes across when we're watching in the morning.'

Elsewhere in the interview,  revealed harrowing news about 's recovery from her horror leg injury during a surfboard stunt gone wrong.

The former Today anchor, 44, was forced to undergo surgery on her injured knee in 2021 after hurting herself during a water sports segment on the breakfast show.

Now, over three years later, her ex colleague Karl revealed that Ally was on Endone for eight months during her recovery.

Talking about the gruelling nature of working as a breakfast show host, the television presenter reflected on Ally's time at Today.

'I don't think [the job was] easy for her. You slipped off a surfboard, you were on Endone for eight months,' he said at the speaking event as he stood alongside her.

Endone is an opioid used to relieve strong pain when other pain relievers such as paracetamol and anti-inflammatories are not effective enough.
